Two Wheels, a Tent and Half a Brain – post #25 Ride to Bannack State Park, Montana

Technology is a way of organizing the universe so that man doesn’t have to experience it. – Max French

Sometimes the most interesting things occur when we are not riding. Last evening many riders went to the sole tavern in the cabin community to imbibe some adult beverages. I did not accompany them, but it turns out the owner was a former member of the band Van Morrison and he kept the bar open a couple of extra hours and led everyone in karaoke. From the sounds of it, I gather he was not a singer. I did not hear the singing but I did hear the local coyotes who decided to serenade the group simultaneously.

Then later we had a bear invade our trash and a rain and wind storm. The good news is that my tent didn’t leak. The bad news was a very cold morning.

This was supposed to be an easy day with little climbing of about 3000 feet and 57 miles all on paved roads. It seemed harder than that mainly because of headwinds and a bit of rain along the way. The climbing also seemed tougher, but we had one spectacular descent. I had to stop to put on my rain jacket about 10 miles from camp since it was raining quite hard. That lasted though only a few moments but it did sprinkle a few more times. Also had some strong side winds -strange but they last for minutes and then switched to a constant headwind.

Looks like MSFT dropped all my changes from this point……

Okay so I don’t know what happened to this POS Microsoft Surface but it lost most of my work from last night. So I will make this brief. It was a rough day for me and I was especially tired and wobbly on my feet. I took two naps and felt much better after dinner.

Thanks for reading
