Get a bicycle. You will not regret it. If you live.
– “Taming the Bicycle” – Mark Twain
Hello everyone,
The Mark Twain quote is in honor of Mark Twain who lived for a spell in Hannibal Missouri. We assed pretty close on our ride to Quincy. Jim from San Diego went there for dinner and came back with a T-shirt sporting that quote and Sabene supplied to little easy that Twain wrote when he attempted to learn how to ride a Penny Farthing Bicycle – the one with the one really big wheel and the one really small one.
The ride to Quincy was another fairly easy day that earmarked the 2000 mile point of the ride. We only had one Sag but a good tailwind and rolling terrain and “only” 74 miles. It also marked another state line crossing with the traditional sprinkling of sand. I rode with Howard most of the day and we rolled into Quincy early and had lunch at the hotel. This was the largest room that i have had on all three rides. Jan told me that i had a “bridal suite” but it was easily twice as large as most of the rooms with two TVs and a sitting / kitchen area.
There wasn’t a lot to report from the day but we see a lot of farms, small, distinct towns and great scenery with an occasional doc that gives chase. I enjoy the scenery as I ride, but don’t tend to take photos.
Thanks for reading
~Chuck
