“Rest and be thankful.” ― William Wadsworth
Hello Everyone,
I looked for some witty quote on rest and the one that came closest to how I feel is the one from William Wadsworth. At this point, I need a day free from cycling or at least cycling for hours. On this cross country ride, there really is no true day of rest, you just don’t get on your bike for a day. However, the day is often filled with other activities, hopefully some of them fun. Let’s be frank, I love to go riding but I also like to eat chocolate. It is like having chocolate for breakfast, lunch dinner, snacks and drinks.
The first agenda item was going to Champaign Cycles to retrieve my bike. Ross, Richard and I all had our bikes in the shop for repairs. Summer is the busiest time of the year for bicycle shops and it is often the case that oe is told, “We an work on your bike in 3 weeks”. Tracy had called a few days ahead of time but they started to work on our bikes as soon as we brought them in. Each of us had some major issues and Champaign Cycles did a great job on very short notice. They are a friendly and knowledgable shop and I’d recommend them to anyone in the area. Kudos to Champaign Cycles.
After we got back, Barry, Richard, Ross, Herm , Alan and I went to lunch and but supplies for the helmet decorating contest. Every year, the Champaign rest day is used as a creative outlet and tomorrow we are expected to ride with a decorated helmet. This year, mine will be simple ( a small stuffed dog will sit atop my helmet) and for good measure, I added a windmill for my flag. Tomorrow, I should have photos for everyone to see.
Carol, has also rejoined the group. Since we are short staff, Carol couldn’t leave us in the lurch and she is coming back for another week. It is really great to have her back and Rick is also back from his annual audit. Unfirtunately, Tracy has to leave for a spell for a doctors appointment but she should be back in Eire. I will post a video from Ross and he has some good live footage of Tracy in action.
I also did laundry today and tried to but a new pair of Oakley’s because I lost my frames. I still have my prescription lens but no frames..
Anyway, tomorrow I will posy some photos of adults with stupid helmets and you can choose the most absurd.
