Good afternoon everyone!,
Today was a gorgeous ride through the Finger Lakes and parts of the Erie Canal. There were a lot more pine trees, a few decent climbs and the roads were in decent shape. A lot more traffic today on Sunday morning, but it was probably folks out having fun. I have the same saddle sores and figure they will be with me until the end of the tour and a few days of rest off the saddle. This morning, I felt kind of blah but after a few miles, I started to feel good enough to test the leg that had been sore.
We actually beat the van to the first SAG and I just continued to ride with the thought of getting a bite to eat and some gatorade at the first convenience store. About that time, my Garmin stopped recording miles and I went the wrong way for a total of 2 miles or so. Richard came by and at least i knew that i was back on the right road. I did stop at a store and get some needed replenishment and took off with about 20 plus miles to go.
Some of the days we have quite a few turns and one has to be diligent to turn in the right spot and look for roads that may be obscured. When you are riding alone, you have to watch the mileage and look for the turns. I spent some time and stopped a few times just to double check that i was going the right way. Often coming into larger cities you will had a page of traffic directions or more and it can be easy to get lost The directions from CrossRoads are very good bt the incidence of user error compounded by bonk often send us down the wrong street.
Today is Wendy’s (of Barry and Wendy the Canadians fame) so I may have a picture or two from that celebration later tonight to add. As of right now, I didn’t take many photos today (actually zero) so I will post a few more from yesterday.
I got into the hotel early and got my laundry done and had a sandwich from Subway. I think tomorrow will be a similar day and the only really hard day should be Thursday which is 91 miles or so with some good climbs and descents.

You missed some great potted pie at the SAG.
Hey Mike, Yes I hear tell but the SAG wagon wasn’t there yet and my posterior was aching so I headed to the little store for some opt them tatters. I like it! – Chuck
