All that I can say is HOT HOT HOT!!!
We started in Riverside with 2 fair climbs . It was cool then but the second climb was tough. Th group that I was riding with dropped me on the second climb. I caught up at the first and only SAG stop in Beaumont. From then it was into the desert. We were very fortunate early on since we had a downhill and a tailwind and we hit speeds go 35 mph plus. Then in Palm Springs it got real hot and we encountered a headwind. The hot spot was the unassembled statue of Marilyn Monroe in Palm Springs. Will try to post the photo of Marilyn and me!
Temperature hit 111 and the last 8 miles were brutal. I came in with the lead group with 2 Englishman who pulled me along. Drank a lot of liquids and didn’t feel too bad.
Tomorrow we get full desert. The group all made it with a few flash and a couple of bonks that were caught in time.
Heading to our tea meeting in a few minutes and will try to add some photos later.
Cheers
Chuck
Chuck…..111? Wow. Very Impressive I must say. Keep it up! Oh…and your yellow shoes look great next to a disassembled statue of Marilyn Monroe
Thanks Joe! You must have tanked the market today! Tomorrow 100 miles through the desert. Take scare talk to you soon!
